NURS 432: Mental Health Nursing: Week One: Students are usually apprehensive about going into a psychiatric facility for the first time. My own experiences were actually pretty tame. ...
I actually have never worked with mentally ill person, but I have seen and have long distance cousins with mental health illness. On my arrival to the clinical site , I was a little bit scare, some of the patients were calm and some just wanted to talk, it was nothing like what I had seen while I was back home in Nigeria, probable because they don't give them medication and some families cannot afford it back home. I am patiently looking forward to exploring this clinical experience, and very anxious to speak and ask my client some question ,and probable try to find out what this patient or rather what is going on in their mind, and what is like to live with this illness. I don't really have any concerns at this time ,my ultimate goal is to be save at all times, be mindful of my environment and making sure that I provide the best possible care for my patient.
